I remember opening the heavy glass door. It was the day of my first yoga class at the community center. Not the least bit fancy. It didn’t matter to me. I just needed to have something that was mine as I was being pulled in so many directions being a mom, wife and working full time. It was a chance to move my body and chill for an hour. Little did I know that by passing through that door I was completely branching out in a new direction that would become a powerful path in my life. Yoga taught me about my body and the way it moves, hurts, heals, perseveres and strengthens. It taught me about how I connect with the world, how I navigate feelings, how I heal the sadness, how I manage the fear, how I celebrate the wins and how I honor every single learning as a gift. I just knew that this practice needed to be in my life forever. It eventually shifted and I became a certified yoga instructor and began teaching so that I could help others in the same way I was helped.
