Shift your perspective

It snowed briefly today. I immediately felt a sense of calm and excitement. I grew up in the desert and snow was always so special to me. Everything becomes so quiet and you often have to hunker down until the storm blows over. Things just slow down. What a lovely shift.

As we all work through our daily challenges - some big and some small - having a shift in perspective can be so incredibly impactful. Our brains (and egos) try to have our best interest, but often that viewpoint can be limiting. In fact, you can find yourself believing the stories in your head as if they were iron-clad truths.

HOWEVER...there are always other perspectives to any situation. Shifting your perspective can allow you to focus on the good, elevate your mood and bring you to new and creative solutions. You can do things that physically change your view of the world like:

  • Changing your mindset from "I get to" instead of "I have to"

  • Drive a different route to the store or take a different path on your walk

  • Use the phrase, "What I like about it is..." to shift out of the negative and into the positive

  • Consider other peoples’ perspectives - you just might not have all the facts

  • Shift the pattern and react differently - to situations, conversations, etc.

Allow yourself to check in to make sure that the way you move through this world is something you’d admire in another person. If not, adjust. It’s all in your head. Literally.
