I am free

Have you ever felt like you're stuck? I'm talking about being stuck in a relationship, dealing with health issues, working in a job, living in a city, etc. It's that feeling of literally not being able to move or change the circumstances. It can become overwhelming, and over time that feeling can manifest itself into many debilitating forms - resentment, illness, anger...suffocation.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret (ok...you may have heard this before) - NOTHING IS PERMANENT. I really mean this. You may want to disagree with me, but the reality is that there isn't a single thing in this world that is permanent, not the good stuff or the bad stuff. So knowing this, what would you change? Really think about this for a moment.

Years ago, I felt like I was stuck. I would stare off into space and think about how I couldn't move in any direction. I was definitely suffocating both physically and emotionally. One day, I decided to begin acting like I could move. What does that mean? Well for starters, I stopped saying and thinking I was stuck. The next thing I did was open my brain to options. I realized that my 'stuck perception' was limiting my visibility. So I started believing there could be other paths that I didn't yet know about.

I created a vision board that focused primarily on how I wanted my environment to look and feel. Right in the middle of the vision board I planted a simple statement - I AM FREE! The place in my house that had room for my vision board just happened to be the wall that I saw every morning the moment I opened my eyes. I remember, day after day, cracking my lids and being so grateful to see those words. I had no idea how things were going to unfold but I just had this feeling that things would be changing.

It's not uncommon for our brain to think that it just knows and the negative thoughts just flow - I can't separate from this person, I'm never going to feel better, the time isn't right for me to get a new job, etc. Here is the good news...there are paths out there that are more amazing than you could ever imagine. However, you have to open up all of your senses to allow awareness in to be able bring them into existence. Thinking you're stuck will keep you stuck even if there is an amazing opportunity right in front of you.

Here is your homework assignment:

  • Go open the blinds and let the light in (literally and metaphorically)

  • Set aside some time each day to remind yourself that anything is possible and that you may not know all the options at this moment

  • Feel free to replicate my idea of creating a vision board or staring at the phrase, I AM FREE - place it in a location that you will see frequently throughout the day

  • Begin to shift your mental chatter and replace the negative feelings/thoughts with positive mantras (drown out the negative)

    • I release fear

    • I release pain

    • I release doubt

    • I am free

    • I am empowered

    • I am magnificent

  • Track your daily thoughts in a journal so that you can look back and see how things are shifting.

  • Celebrate every single tiny and big change

Allowing this release will free up space to let the new path form before your eyes. It takes daily practice to make this shift as these negative patterns can sometimes be very deep. Just keep going full force knowing that some days will drive more change than others.

I have personally experienced some of the most transformational change of my life taking this approach. The transformation wasn't just with me but with those all around me. I often just focused on myself and then I saw huge shifts happening to others. It was truly amazing! So go make some of your own transformational change happen. Don't hold off another day.
